Try A Hair Trend: The Top Donut Knot

Looking for a fun, flirty hairstyle? Dont worry we have a upcoming hair trend for you! The DONUT KNOT is back! The Top Donut Knot Bun can be seen from the streets of London to the runways of African Fashion Week. It’s a quick and simple way to achieve a polished and interesting look in just a few minutes. The look can be created with any type or length of hair, and on clean or dirty hair. You can add hairextensions with it or you can pull it off with your own hair. The perfect hair style for the worst hair day. Or just add a fake hairpiece and your through! Get some style instructions after the jump:

We've seen many variations of the topknot (messy, huge and orblike, braided), but the one we're spotting over and over again is the version that catches everyones eye, a real hair statement donut knot! The look is modern and sophisticated but edgy and raw. Within just minutes you can achieve a runway look that has been spotted in all the top runway shows.

This donut shaped mesh padding adds a little umph to turn your bun into a statement. If you have fine or short hair you will love this.

■A brush – a paddle brush or a bristle brush
■A comb
■An elastic
■Bobby pins
■Donut shaped padding

How To Use The Donut To Create The Look:
– Gather your hair into a high ponytail. Use one hair band to do this. Make sure to place it where you want the bun to be. Take your time and get your hair as smooth and nice as you want it. This is the only time you will be able to play with it other than the ponytail itself.

– Pop your donut padding around your ponytail. Try and use padding that is close to your natural hair colour.

– Tease your hair. Gently backcomb your ponytail to create more volume so you have enough hair to cover the donut.

– Hide the donut by wrapping your hair around it. Find the centre of your ponytail and wrap your hair around evenly to cover the donut. Use bobby pins to secure the ends of your hair. Take the strands of hair sticking out from the underside of the bun and slowly wrap them around the hair band that you just used.

– Tuck the excess around the bottom of the bun, securing it with two or three bobby pins. Finish with a hairspray to smooth any fuzzy flyaways.

Achieve the look with a faux piece:
Step 1: Place hair in a high, slicked back pony tail
Step 2: Wrap your own hair around the pony tail untill you have a small knot on your own.
Step 3: Take a faux knot and pin it with several bobby pins to secure the hair
Step 4: Pull pieces of the bun down to create desired shape
Step 5: Hair spray the top knot and any fly aways

(You can buy faux donut knots in your local Afro Shop)
