DIY: How to apply your lace wig

tyrabankslace
Are you tired of going to the hair salon all the time? Are you fed up of blending your leave-out hair with your weave? What about when they aren't done properly?
Then just use Lace wigs! But the question is how do you apply and maintain it?

If the lace wig is not applied properly you might suffer from hair loss.
Lace wigs are probably the best way to have the appearance of long straight hair without damaging your own hair. A well-applied wig can stay on your head for 4-6 weeks and no one will know that you are wearing a one.

Remember that full lace wigs come in a variety of colours, textures and cuts. They are made from both synthetic and real hair. So you will have to learn how to maintain it. Lets be clear on 'maintaining' your hair because you wont be happy spending so much money on a lace wig and have it look worn out after only 1 month!

Remy is the most popular hair type. You can purchase Indian Remy, Chinese Remy, Mongolian Remy, Malaysian Remy, European Remy and Brazilian Remy wigs

Here are some tips and tricks on how to apply and maintain your lace wig.
First things first! Your wig fit is crucial! This is very important for a realistic looking wig with a tight hold.If your measurement is to small it will give you problems by the application of the wig.

(Measure your head: around the hairline, front to nape, from ear to ear across the forehead, from ear to ear over the top of the head, temple to temple around the back of the head, and across the nape of the neck)

1.
Make sure that your skin is free from oil prior to applying your lace wig. Oil on your skin will lead to your lace wig lifting and reducing the length of time that your wig remains attached. Use a small amount of alcohol to remove Any oil of your hairline. Be careful not to use to much!

2.
Allow the alcohol to dry completely before applying a little of Scalp Protector.

3.
Make sure your hair is flat as it can be. A wig cap will be able to achieve this effect. Tip: use a nude wig cap because it gives the illusion of a “scalp” .

4.
The hair of the wig should be held up together (perhaps in a ponytail). You should do this before placing the wig on your head so that the hair will not fall and stick to the glue.

5.
Trim the hairline around your head. This should be done with a clipper or razor so that the wig can be applied to a smooth hairless surface

6.
Hold your head back and look at the ceiling. Then slowly start trimming the excess lace. Really think about the way you want your hairline to look. Be real cautious and patient while cutting.

7.
Place the wig on your head, and evaluate how and where you would like the hairline.

8.
Apply adhesives around the front of the hairline using the adhesive applicator. Using the adhesive application brush, smooth out hair around the front of the hairline. Allow this adhesive to dry for 7 to 10 minutes before proceeding. Depending upon the glue you may want to apply the wig on 1/4 of your head at a time. (Add glue to excess spots that you may have missed).

9.
Trim and style the wig as needed. Treat your wig as if it is your own hair, and dont forget to cover it at night before you go to bed.
