Pageant Alert: Miss Excellence
There’s a new pageant in town and it is bringing the house down. Miss Excellence is a beauty pageant with a very specific goal in mind. The main focus of Miss Excellence is to rebrand the image of colored women and to create unity amongst people of African descent through a beauty contest. They empower women with the right mentality of what a true beauty is. Men may be the roof but women are the cement that put our generation together (AMEN).
Contestants are drawn from all colored women between the ages of 17- 28 and the grand finale comes up on the 17th of December 2011 in Amsterdam
There is a six weeks workshop manned by professionals from various fields starting on the 22nd of October 2011 and is focused on equipping the contestants with the right skills of becoming Miss Excellence Ambassadors/role models for the present generation and the upcoming ones. Its intention is also to prepare the contestants with enough know hows with which to tackle daunting tasks later in life. The contents of this workshops are media training, healthy family support workshop, etiquette, how to maintain your natural hair (this is because all contestants are mandated to carry their natural hairs), knowing yourself and your potentials, an insight into special make up brands best for colored skin and job coaching.
Miss Excellence may not have been long in existence but they have covered enough grounds to be considered veterans in the fashion world because they have attracted the interests of various companies and organizations both within and outside the Netherlands who are willing to partner with them because they believe in their vision and their unflinching daring attempts to make the difference.
They have a magazine coming out called ExEx Glamour in 2012. The magazine is a MUST HAVE for people of African descent because it will showcase the Crème de la crème of all the various projects and activities that Miss Excellence is undergoing.
