Discussion: Are Reality Shows portraying Black Women in a negative way

PhotobucketPhotobucket
One thing is sure! Love & Hip Hop’ officially turned into the Bad Girls Club this season, with so many fists flying and glasses being thrown you’d think it was ‘Basketball Wives.’ Poor Kimbella was once again the target but this time it was with model-turned-aspiring singer Erica Mena. Erica starts poppin’ off at the mouth, saying that Kimbella is at a lower level than her, saying she does spots for free and is making it hard for real models like herself and that she should be happy she got a dude with some change to knock her up. Y’all already know what happened next.

Here is yet another reality show, being aired to millions portraying black women as hungry tigers and buffoons who are unable to have a different opinion with another women getting all in someone's face and snatching someone's weave out. I suppose there must be some drama and conflicts in order to keep attention. However it still boils my blood to think that much of the more popular TV shows who do have a majority ethnic cast portray Black and Latino women as fool in some capacity. We are seen as overly emotional, tempermental, desperate, jealous, catty, greedy and offcourse pretty.

There are some Black and Latino women that have a personality that does reflect this behavior but there are so many more who have the ability to carry themselves as ladies without weave snatching and slapping their girlfriends.

For example: White women can go on and act crazy and slap one another on TV if they choose to and what will people say? They will say "Oh Anne and Lauren, they are always fighting and behaving like fools". Black or Latino women can behave in the same manner and what will be said is something greatly different. More like "Oh, THOSE people are always fighting and acting a fool. Whats wrong with them"? And thats not what we want to hear.... right?

  2. They have so much money and not an once of class, talent, or beauty. These are not women, they are mediocre fame whores, hiding behind their money/ex-husband's money. You wonder why America is laughed at, because we are paying people like this to live. REALITY TV SHOULD STOP!
