Are you in for a Black movie night? Don’t hesitate to visit Da Bounce Movie Night on Saturday the 21st of January in Rotterdam! It’s a Sensational Film Event where they show at least 2 black movies which have never been shown in cinema's before, Dj's, Red Carpet, Music Performance, SoulFood, Celebs, Goodie Bags and a lot more... ! Its 2 bad that Black movies are not really being promoted in Dutch cinema’s, so it’s nice that they are organizing such an event.
Like we noticed many Dutch people find comedies like "Dude where’s my car?" or movies with Mr. Bean funny, where characters act stupid or have no common sense. Most of the black people just find it dumb because its predictable. Honestly I like all types of comedy, but I wish all movies were equally promoted.
Black people on the other hand like movies/comedies like "Coming to America" or "Soul Plane" and find people like Madea (Tyler Perry), Chris Tucker, Mike Epps, Kat Williams, Mo'nique, Eddie Murphy, and others funny (I find movies with these actors hilarious). But I did find "The Hangover" funny though.
I think we love black movies cause it has to do with the levels of aggression and power. It seems more people of color like aggressive humor and humor that degrades others. I think it comes from days of having no power. "Yo Mama jokes" came from the days of transporting slaves over. They had no power at all but humiliated each other and their mothers to feel a sense of power. And it was a common bond. They all had a mother who was precious to them. We also like black movies cause the storylines often relate to our personal lifes.
I guess everybody have a different taste but I find black movies funnier but some white ones too. Like I watch some white TV shows like Friends, the King of Queens & That 70 shows people wouldn't believe that but it's true. I also watch alot of "White movies" I find some hilarious like Due Date and My Best friends wedding.

ReplyDelete“The Best Man” is my all time favorite black movie. I absolutely loved it. Even to this day if i randomly see it on TV i HAVE to watch it! I remember seeing “Waiting to Exhale” when i was younger and being like “wow she really burned all his clothes and car?” i didn’t understand….oh how times have changed
ReplyDeleteI can’t stand black movies anymore. The plots are all the same and we stereotype ourselves in ways that would anger me if white people did it.
ReplyDeleteI don’t like many movies these days so I guess I shouldn’t just blame it on the brothers out there making films. The question we need to ask ourselves when we come up with a movie plot is “Would Denzel Washington want a part in this movie?” If the answer is no, get back to the drawing board.
