Hair Inspiration: Genesis Vallejo Rocking An Afro

Model Genesis Vallejo is rocking an afro in a vintage themed editorial titled “Brixton 2012″ in the latest issue of Grazia Magazine France (Nov 12th issue). The pictures give you a good look on how to rock an afro with vintage fashion. It brings you back to the seventies when hairstyles were easier to maintain by oneself, without requiring frequent and sometimes costly visits to the hairstylist as was often experienced by people who chose to braid, straighten or relax their hair. Check out the flicks after the jump:

The Afro, sometimes shortened to 'fro and also known as a "natural", is a hairstyle worn naturally by people with lengthy kinky hair texture or specifically styled in such a fashion by individuals with naturally curly or straight hair. The hairstyle is created by combing the hair away from the scalp, allowing the hair to extend out from the head in a large, rounded shape, much like a halo, cloud or ball.

How do you like the styling?

  2. For me an afro is a bit too much. it doesnt suit my face... but I like it on the model

  3. I may be a little biased here because I wear a similar length/textured fro but I absolutely love this...its refreshing to see this type of beauty in magazines and any mainstream media available, I was looking up 'Afro hairstyle inspirations' for my paintings and your posts came up...wish I'd seen this sooner than you for sharing!
