Fashionshow: Versace Spring/Summer 2013 Atelier Collection

For her Spring Summer 2013 Collection, Donatella Versace looked to the architecture of the 19th century dome of the Centorial building designed by Gustave Eiffel. “The Spring Summer 2013 Atelier Versace collection explores the relationships between solid structures and ethereal fabrics. Donatella Versace took inspiration in the architectural splendor of glass domes, where the fragility of glass contrasts with the strenght of iron and steel beams, challenging the idea of modern to build ephemeral vaults and roof lights.

Fitted trousers and skirts cut to the knee create a sleek, streamlined silhouette, while oversized fluorescent leather piping reinforces necklines on dresses held together with gold zips. There were baby-doll dresses in metal mesh and fluorescent colors, pleated skirts with gold laminate inserts, all reflecting light as they moved, and a mink fur that was combined with metal mesh and three dimensional embellishments.
