Hair Discussion: Black Men With Straightend Hair - What Do You Think?

Trinidad James stopped by Power 105.1's "The Breakfast Club" to chat it up. The rapper switch up the hair and debuted his brand new straightend look. When asked why he switched from the afro, he said he was getting his hair cleaned and he felt good about it.  And he's not worried about what other people think because, "I just do me all the time". Good that Trinidad feels like that, but there is a lot of debate about being a black male with straight hair. Mostly form the black community. Why is it so bad for a black male to have straight hair?

In the very early days of the Civil Rights movement, it was briefly fashionable for African-American men to straighten their hair. However, with the development and solidification of a black racial consciousness, natural hair began to make a comeback, and straight hair began to become a rarity among black men.

 Some think black men with perms are vain and a throw back to the days of Malcolm X's time. But some do look good with relaxer (shoutout to Lloyd back in the day) Having straight hair looks more Caucasian, and black people mostly have naturally curly hair.

 So some may think you're ditching your true background, and making yourself something you're not. You may not think this at all, but that's just what automatically pops up when you see this.

 To be honest, I don' t like straight hair on EVERYBODY, some people actually dont look THAT bad with it like Kat Williams and Snoop Dogg. For me it's just so boring in comparison with huge curls, fro's and waves. But if it's what you like, I can't stop you or change your mind.
