News: J.Crew Takes In Expansion

J.Crew will expand internationally in 2013. The retail titan plans to start with a few stores in London and open first time stores in Hong Kong and Tokyo. “We’re still identifying opportunities to densify in the U.S.,” Haselden added as they confirm opening more statewide and Canada locations.

“We started out in Canada and Japan; then added literally the rest of the world last March,” said Matthew Martin, director of operations at J. Crew’s Lynchburg-based distribution center. “We are on a mission to provide customers around the world with the best-of-the-best—we have created an experience that is equally as rich online as in store and are excited to introduce J.Crew to new customers worldwide,” says Millard Drexler, CEO of J.Crew Group Inc.

 The clothing retailer’s international growth helped fuel a major expansion completed last year at J.Crew omplex’s off Dillard Drive. The company invested $20 million and added 155,000 square feet to its distribution center.
