Drink Water: In the summers, dry lips are usually a sign of dehydration. Drink at least 4 litres of water everyday. If you spend a lot of time outdoors you need to increase your consumption of water appropriately.
Don't Lick Your Lips: When your lips are dry, you tend to lick them again and again. This is a habit that leads to chapped and often bleeding lips. When your lips are dry, don't lick them.
Apply Olive Oil At Night: When you apply oil on your lips in the day time, the heat will make you sweat it out. Apply olive oil on your lips at night before you go to bed so that they can heal as you sleep.
Having Cooling Fruit Juices: Often body heat accumulates in the body and makes your skin dry. Having cooling fruit juices helps to dissipate the body heat and keep your lips supple.
Don't Sit In AC All Day: When it is burning hot outside, we prefer to sit indoors in an air conditioned cocoon. However, sitting in the dry and chilled air of the AC all day can make the skin on your lips dry. Try to get some natural air to keep your lips moist.
Take Bath Regularly: It is very important that you bathe at least once everyday in the summer. Going without a bath increases body heat and also dries the skin.
Apply Ice On Your Lips: Sometimes the heat rises to such an extent that your chapped lips start bleeding. You can apply ice on your lips to stem the blood flow and also hydrate your lips.
Don't Use Makeup: When your lips are dry and chapped avoid using lip stick or lip gloss. The artificial cosmetics cause further dryness. Try to use natural lip balms like honey and olive oil instead.
