Press News: Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam - Is Cancelled!
At the eleventh hour the organizers of Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam and the organizers of Africa Fashion Week London brain stormed over the numbers and tried to source additional funding. However, unfortunately they could not find a solution that would do the AFWA2013 'Avant Premiere' name justice. This event is meant to break new ground every summer and to not do that history justice would be undeserved.
The young founder and director, Diana Tambe Blackpearl comments " I'd rather attempt to do something great and fail than to attempt to do nothing and succeed. - Robert H. Nonetheless I'll use this experience as a stepping-stone in all Faith by God's grace towards AFWA2014"
The Biggest African Fashion Exhibition preview strives to support designers, primarily through event management of fashion shows, catwalk displays, workshops and showcase events. Not only does this provide the opportunity for the world to explore new and exciting fashion, but also allows designers to express their creativity within a professionally produced event environment. The event aims to obtain a reputation for providing an outstanding platform for new talent to be seen in one of the world's top fashion cities. It is always been the plan to carry out events and endeavors that represent those brands proudly and it’s unfortunate that this event lacked the funding from some key supporters that was required to make it a success.
Everyone who has already registered for the event will be refunded their registration fees from AFWA organizers. Likewise, anyone who has booked accommodation with any AFWA hotel partners will be refunded their bookings.
The organizers of the event would like to thank everyone that believed in this event and who planned to attend and also apologize for this unfortunate conclusion. Africa Fashion Week industry is a passionate group and everyone involved in putting this event on were dedicated and deeply passionate for the cause and are very disheartened at this turn of events. All the support shown to this event has been much appreciated.
