After copping the Female Artist of the Year Award and American Music Awards ICON Award, Rihanna got a huge backlash because of her "doobie" hair wrap that she rocked during the AMAs. Some members of the African-American and Latina community, feel that the wrap should be relegated to the bedroom. How do you feel about this criticism? |
A doobie wrap consists of wrapping the hair around the head and securing with large bobby pins, to ensure a straight, voluminous look. It’s usually a style that you only wear indoors as hair sets overnight but of course Rihanna sets boundries.
Some interpreted the style to mean Rihanna is nonchalant about her AMAs honor while others felt it was a unique and clever nod to her culture at a time when the world was watching. According to her hairstylist, Rihanna was going for the '30s finger waves hairstyle, and with the embellished pins, it channeled the Old Hollywood look.
The red carpet outfit is dope!
That doobie will never be okay
