Beauty News: Lupita Nyong’o Lancome First Black Spokesperson - Encouragement For Young Black Women!

Lupita Nyong’o better werk! The actress just landed an endorsement deal with making her the first black celebrity spokesperson the French brand ever had. Lupita’s ads will begin airing in September! Find out on how she brought the news after the jump:

Lupita about the partnership: "I am truly honored to join the Maison Lancome, a brand with such a prestigious history that I have always loved. I am particularly proud to represent its unique vision for women and the idea that beauty should not be dictated, but should instead be an expression of a woman’s freedom to be herself."

This is a great look for Lupita who never bleached her skin and she is being a true encouragement for young black girls by “saving” them from using skin-bleaching cream because of adolescent insecurity.

In her acceptance speech at the Essence Magazine Hollywood Breakthrough Performance Award in March Lupita went on to say; “I remember a time when I too felt unbeautiful,” she added. “I turned on the TV and only saw pale skin. I got teased and taunted about my night-shaded skin,” leading to feelings of self-loathing that she said grew worse when she was a teenager. But then Alek Wek entered the modeling scene, becoming a black role model who made Nyong'o feel “more seen, and more appreciated.”

I’m so glad this girl is being recognized for her beauty and talent. Well done Lupita!
