Beauty Tip: Foods That Stain Teeth

So how do you keep your perfect smile white? It may be more to it than those specially formulated toothpastes and mouthwashes. Maybe it all just comes down to simply one thing, your diet. Try avoiding these seven foods for a brighter, whiter smile!

- Berries: Yes they are sweet and nutritious, but they have dark, deep pigments. These colors coat your tooth enamel and leave a film on your teeth that cause staining.

- Beets: Now these are a serious teeth stainer! If you are a beet eater then you should be more than aware of how badly this veggie can stain your clothing, so just imagine the damage it can have on your teeth!

- Crackers: Are you a saltine lover? Well, you might rethink that next cracker you are about to munch on. Many crackers contain refined carbohydrates, which create sugars that attract tooth-staining bacteria.

- Balsamic Vinegar: Not only does it have a deep pigment, but it is also highly acidic. This is a no-no for teeth, at least pretty ones! If you must eat it, try only having it with salad.

- Pickles: The acidic property of pickles erodes your tooth enamel. This not only breaks down the tooth, but causes some serious staining.

- Coffee and Tea: Chai lover? Maybe not anymore! Too much coffee or tea will slowly begin to stain your teeth a dark yellow. Yuck!

- Tomato Sauce: Tomatoes are brightly colored and highly acidic. Plain and simple, limit your intake. The tomatoes erode your teeth and stain your enamel.
