Directly translated from french as Fierce and Calm, London based Nigerian Designer, Mariam Afolabi entitles debut collection under the Aglaia label, “Feroce et Calme”. The designer is inspired by a Marilyn Monroe quote: ”I don’t mind living in a man’s world, so long as I can be a woman in it.” With sheer, maxi and punk rock pieces for the female collection and touches of tribal prints for the men’s, there is a symbolic strength highlighted in each piece.
