The first ever Miss Sierra Leone Holland Beauty Pageant to be held in the Netherlands has finally come to an end. With an enthusiastic crowd form the UK, US, and the rest of Europe that kept asking for more, the organizing team has set the bar higher, as they made history in grand style, beyond the expectation of the Sierra Leone community in the Netherlands. Both the pageant and after party were a blast, both venues were packed till the final minute when the music was killed and the light turned on. According to a representative of the organizing team, they continue to receive calls both from the Netherlands and abroad from people who made it to the event or heard about the event, commending them for their hard work in putting Sierra Leone on the map and bringing Sierra Leones around the world together to witness an intense competition of brain and beauty from Sierra Leone’s most beautiful young ladies in the Netherlands. He said, “The 2 months of intensive Media campaign finally paid off, the message about the need to give back home and help underprivileged children achieve quality education in a secured environment was bought by many”
It was a tough job for a jury of 9 distinguished men and women with different backgrounds and 5 different nationalities. They kept an impatient crowd waiting, they waited, as they were eager to know the long awaited result and catch their first glimpse of the first ever Miss Sierra Leone Holland.
The event was hosted by Seray Kakay (Netherlands) and Cidi Koroma, AKA Prince of New York (US). There were also special appearances by group of artist in-between the pageant rounds. They were made up of some of Sierra Leone’s best musicians including: Lady Matto from the UK, Black Rob, Firewood, Sister tight, Ojurks all from the Netherlands, and Barbie Lindsha from Germany. Among others in the VIP section were special guests including, the Sierra Leone Counsellor from Belgium, TBL Model Management Agency, Miss Africa Netherlands, Miss Guinea Netherlands, Miss Supranational Rwanda, and the Sierra Leone Central Union, the Netherlands.
As part of their surprised packages, 6 of the 9 contestants were awarded a 6 month paid contract to model for WHATSMYNAME Clothing line and Totalabel Webshop.
Prior to the event, the fundraising project that brought about this unique fundraiser was launched in the City of Nijmegen, the Netherlands. It was done in a classy red carpet fashion, and became the turning point that triggered the momentum in the media across Sierra Leone communities in the Diaspora.
