Accessorize: "Goal Diggers Grind Harder" Necklace

Photobucket
I recently spotted Femmes with Benefits, a super small accessories store started by cousins Soraya and Kimberly. With pieces made,"for my hunnies who chase dreams and not money," the two fashioned simple necklaces with the phrases, “Goal Diggers Dig Deeper,” and “Goal Diggers Grind Harder,” to encourage women who are all about self sufficiency.

I like it! “Goal Diggers” is a positive twist on a negative concept, plus the jewelry is banging. I’m a fan of statement pieces for all seasons!

Would you rock ‘em? If you will, order it for $38 (approx. 29,50,-euros) at www.fwb.bigcartel.com.

Stay Fly and Stay Elegant!

  1. In the society that we live in today it is amazing to see two young ladies working hard and showing positivity through their designs. Love everything that it stands for. Great job ladies.

  2. The message and meaning is more than superficially telling women not to “gold dig” [A gold digger is any woman whose primary interest in a relationship is material benefits. A woman who cares more about a man's bank account than she does about the man] but to pursuit your dreams and “goals”. It is a sign that it is also “OK” to continue to relate yourself to a “ghetto-like” [jury-rigged, improvised, or home-made (usually with extremely cheap or sub-standard components), yet still deserving of an odd sense of respect from ghetto dwellers and NON-ghetto dwellers alike] fashion.
I am DEFINITELY not knocking down what inspiration they have, but as an entrepreneur, bachelor in physics major, and actor… my advice is to go back to the drawing board. Try sew-able patches, stickers, posters, or even becoming an activist in the movement by holding rallies for women empowerment, job fairs strictly for women, or even promoting education. You have a great idea but taking you seriously about your message is non existent. I am not like others who present a problem or state a rebuttal without offering a solution. Keep up the good work!
