Make-up: Green Eyeshadow

Mother Nature is calling and livening up our makeup routine. Green eyeshadow is a fresh and bold color and it is great for brown eyes and olive/dark skin. It can be applied in either a matte or shimmer finish. Follow some instructions on how to apply green eyeshadow and a few beauty tips you should keep in mind by applying green eyeshadow.

1. Apply eyeshadow primer to your eyelids. This creates a nice base for the shadow to cling to. It can also help to ward off excess oil. The primer makes your shadow look nice and smooth, and can prevent dreaded creases.

2. Vivid green will look very intense on light skin and on dark skin it would give the face just a touch of interest. A fair-skinned girl will look great in a wash of celery, while medium-skin and darker complexions in emeralds and evergreens, respectively. The shades that work best for this look are wet to dry are shimmer. Apply it with the eyeshadow applicator and blend it until even and smooth.

3. Blend in the second shade up to your eyebrow crease. Choose a green shade that complements your skin and eye color and blend it until smooth.

4. Use an eyeliner, that creates a clean and sharp line on the top of the eyelid and extend it out to the edge of your eyes.

5. Add another stroke of eyeliner on top of the final layer. This will help emphasize your eyes, and you can create a smoky effect with a thicker eyeliner for the evening if you prefer.

6. Give your shadow some protection and glow by applying a light dusting of translucent powder over top. Finish your look with one or two coats of mascara. Make sure this is either in a brown or black color to help highlight your lashes and emphasize your eyes.

7. Limit other colors on the face. Stick with neutral colors on your lips and cheeks for a balanced look.

Some tips:
-Green eyeshadow in a matte shade is ideal for daytime, while metallics and shimmery tones are best for evening.
-Green eyeshadow is ideal for brown and hazel eyes.
-Lime eyeshadow is a great shade for spring and summer.
-Avoid wearing green eyeliner or green mascara on top of green eyeshadow; pick a contrast liner and mascara instead.
-Green eyeshadow does not always work well with blue eyes.
-Don't wear green contact lenses with green eyeshadow.
-Never match your eyeshadow color to your clothing. Pick up contrasting colors such as beige, brown, black, or tan to complete your look.
