Hair: Shampoo Secrets For The Black Hair....

It’s time we set the record straight about the lathering of your locks! There are so many myths and theories out there when it comes to shampooing your hair. These 7 tips will have everyone wondering what your secret is!

Use the RIGHT shampoo
The thicker the hair, the heavier you want the shampoo. Look for a decent moisturizing shampoo if your hair is on the thicker side. If you have finer hair find a volumizing shampoo.

Clarify from time to time
If your hair seems overly dry, has become “immune” to products or your scalp has lots of residue, it’s probably time to clarify. Clarifying constantly is counterproductive, but it is important to make sure you clarify here and there to keep your hair fresh and clean.

Chemically treated? Clarify MORE!
Did you know that chemically treated hair is more porous? This makes it more likely to absorb pollutants and product residue. Make sure you always follow up your clarifying shampoo with a moisturizing one as well.

Shampoo has a 2-3 year life span If you are a product junkie and collect shampoos, make sure you are keeping track of their expiration dates. Shampoo doesn’t necessarily spoil like eggs, but it won’t benefit your hair the way it needs to.

Scalp massages for healthier hair
A good rub down can increase blood circulation in your scalp, which can help promote hair growth.

Use a quarter-sized squirt
Too much shampoo will create too much foam. You can’t get a good rub on when you are working with too much product.

Water temperature matters
Washing your hair in scalding hot water will leave you with limp, lifeless hair. Try lathering up with warm water and rinsing with cool water. Cold water seals the hair’s cuticle to lock in moisture and shine.
