Last month was a multicultural intent in the MAC showroom. It's no secret that MAC Cosmetics is a leader in the beauty industry, I love make up tutorials but they are usually for lighter skin people, so when I heard they we're about to make makeup tutorials specifically for non-European skin, I was determined to take a backstage peak! The focus was on the African skin, Asian skin and the West-Indies skin color. I had the opportunity to ask MAC Cosmetics makeup artist Connie a few tips for the mentioned skin colors. Take a look at the tips and video tutorials (in Dutch) after the jump:
MAC has an impressive range of foundation shades to meet the needs of every skin tone imaginable. MAC's shades are such a big deal that women everywhere often describe their own skin tone by referencing MAC's foundation guide. Another strong suit of the brand, is their expertise in contouring and highlighting face shapes.
Connie transformed dull complexions and flat features into smokey eyes that sparkle, chiseled cheeks and full lips.
Dark Skin Facts MAC is a good makeup line for women of color because they can shop light foundation shades such as Studio Fix Fluid NC15, while a woman with darker skin may find NW55 is her perfect match. Because many MAC foundations contain built-in sunscreen, women of color can feel confident knowing their skin is protected from the sun's damaging rays; contrary to popular belief, skin of any color can burn.
Asian Skin Facts When choosing a foundation, look for one with yellow undertones and apply only a light coverage to begin with. To give the impression of bigger eyes avoid using dark shades and opt for brighter colours that are blended towards the exterior of your eye to make them appear more ‘open’.
Lighter Skin Facts MAC has a huge range of shades in products like foundation, eye shadow, blush, eye liner, mascara and lipstick, among others. From the palest NC 15 to a deep NW 50 and many colors in between, any woman should find a concealer that will hide the occasional blemish or under-eye circles well.
