Elegancy101 Special: The Afropolitan Luxury Fashion Art Gallery



I attended the Afropolitan Luxury fashion art gallery at the Art'otel in Amsterdam the other day. “Afropolitan Luxury” is the bridge between the world of African and Western design, challenging the status quo on the existing concept of African design by bringing the best of African talent to the international forefront. It was apealing to see a showcase that was deeply rooted in the African culture. I really liked the way it acknowledged the cosmopolitan environment that is influenced by Western consumer habits and trends.

Last month was a multicultural intent in the MAC showroom. It's no secret that MAC Cosmetics is a leader in the beauty industry, I love make up tutorials but they are usually for lighter skin people, so when I heard they we're about to make makeup tutorials specifically for non-European skin, I was determined to take a backstage peak! The focus was on the African skin, Asian skin and the West-Indies skin color. I had the opportunity to ask MAC Cosmetics makeup artist Connie a few tips for the mentioned skin colors. I had the privilege to take part in the panel of the "I AM NOT MY HAIR, AM I" event.   I must say the event was a huge success! The day was full of live entertainment, giveaways, hairshow, a panel discussion, and great food! Of course we were able to come together as natural women, proudly rocking our natural curls and celebrating our beauty together.

Don't you think that Spring is a natural time for renewal and rebirth. I must say that I have been a rut for a while when it comes to makeup. It seems easier to try new looks when we get ready for a night out or get dressed up for a party, but your "everyday" look needs freshening every once in a while. So I decided to get a spring look "makeover" done by makeup artist Sheila Tjon a Koy who specifically uses low budget makeup for a polished look without it costing a pretty penny. As you may know, not everyone is able to spend huge amounts for every moisturizer, powder compact, lipstick and other beauty products that is sold in today's market.

Elegancy101 Special: ML TOURS - Cultural Trip To Morocco - Part 4: Rabat's First Flight To Amsterdam

Our trip ended at the airport of Rabat and we had jointly celebrated the opening of the first flight from Rabath to Amsterdam provided by Corendon Airlines  and ML Tours. The flights would help to boost culture tourism in Morocco. Morocco is making the most of its status as a 'Secure' tourist destination. Morocco’s tourism has been speaking with different Airways about organizing routes. Plus, they said direct flights to and from China should become a reality in 2015. Meanwhile, more than 10.5 million tourists visited Morocco last year – up 7 percent since 2012, according to AFP.  When are you going to pay a visit?

Meknes is one of the four Imperial cities of Morocco and its a impressive city in Spanish-Moorish style, surrounded by high walls with great gates. We were warmly welcomed by dancing gnawa musicians. Gnawa music is a mixture of African, Berber, and Arabic religious songs and rhythms. It combines music and acrobatic dancing. Afterwards we were invited to enjoy a delicious buffet in the upper room of a restaurant.

While driving towards Meknes, the modern city bustling with nightlife, restaurants and an impressive royal palace, we stopped over at the Roman ruins of Volubilis (Oualili). The road that leads from Fez to Meknes is one of the most fascinating you will find in all of Morocco. We've seen amazing lunar landscapes and valleys with wonderful gorgeous and small villages near oases. The Roman ruins of Volubilis were not to be missed. We were approached by ML Tours travel agency for the celebration of their 5 year anniversary and their first scheduled flight from Amsterdam to Rabath and from Rabath to Amsterdam. We felt honored to be on board with other 50 men while celebrating the establishment of  ML Tours and the rich culture of Morocco. We spent a few days in Morocco and during our time in-country as well, we've seen beautiful places like Fez, Meknes and of course Rabath.
