MTN Lagos Fashion Week Day 2: Maki oh

Photobucket
Maki Oh introduces her S/S 2012 collection The velvet with wax print underlay still keeps us in love with the entire collection.
Paying strict attention to the female form, Maki Oh’s pristine and light-weight tailoring included body-conscious pieces oozing a sensual yet prim appeal, we like the underlay of sheer highlighted with alternate fabrics as a shade from the absolute nude-glam.The influx of velvet in this collection was just the kind of breath of fresh air that blows out of the park; it was fresh, distinct and incredibly executed. The green long-sleeved velvet number was the standout piece for us through the entire collection, the designer patterned out the velvet posing it as quilted and alternatively on other pieces as artwork-esque.

The slouchy tailoring, low-waisted piece and midi skirt didn’t go unnoticed breaking out of the norm of the cohesiveness of the collection but the designer made these work in fabric, patterning and tone. Maki also included off-shouldered ruffled blouses [Absolute Beautiful!], hand-fan patterned tie-dye fabrics and paper-like shredded fabrics. Utterly sucked up into the creativity and thought-process that was consumed in the collection, we almost nearly skipped the fact that there wasn’t an overflow of bright tones, it was monochrome, it was neutral tones, it was earth tones and a hint of dusty pink.
